Great News: More than 75% of the population of Vieques has been vaccinated, making it likely one of the first places in the US that will reach herd immunity! That doesn't mean the people of Vieques are letting their guard down, though. You must wear a mask in public and social distance, but beaches are open and restaurants and activities are fully operating, just at reduced capacity.
You still must provide proof of vaccination/ a negative COVID test taken no more than 72 hours prior to your flight in order to exit the SJU airport. If you do not have results in time, you may quarantine at Las Piedras until your results come in.

Public beaches and natural reserves are open, following social distancing guidelines and with the use of masks when not in the water. Public alcohol consumption is prohibited.
Museums are operating at 50% capacity.
Restaurants are operating at 50% capacity, with reservations recommended, and are required to conspicuously post the number of patrons that constitutes 50%, making such posting visible to patrons inside and outside of the restaurant.
Alcohol sales are permitted within curfew hours, as are operations of restaurant dining rooms.
Employees are required to use face coverings and floor plans are to maintain distancing protocols.
Buffets, salad bars, and self-serve options, as well as reusable menus, are prohibited at restaurants. Gloves are also mandatory when serving guests.
Due to limited capacity, reservations are suggested where applicable.
All arriving passengers to Puerto Rico’s three open airports must complete an online Travel Declaration Form from the Puerto Rico Health Department, show a negative PCR molecular COVID-19 test result taken no more than 72 hours prior, and obtain an Airport Exit Confirmation QR Code, which travelers will automatically receive when uploading their PCR molecular test results to the Puerto Rico Health Department’s online portal.
A rapid test will not be accepted, as it can sometimes yield false results.
While prior testing is required to enter the Island, the Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU) offers PCR molecular COVID-19 tests on-site in order to facilitate testing for incoming and outgoing passengers. The service, which costs $110 USD, is offered from 6:00 AM. to 12:00AM., seven days a week, at three molecular test collection centers located at terminals A, B, and C.
Arriving travelers can access the Travel Declaration Form at www.travelsafe.pr.gov or www.viajaseguro.pr.gov.
You can download the SJU airport protocol in English and Spanish
What steps are we doing to comply with the re-opening restrictions?
Las Piedras will close between each guest's stay for a minimum of 36 hours in order to fully disinfect (with a professional fogger) and safely prepare the house. Additional products and procedures will be utilized to guarantee the safety of our guests and we will have extra sanitation products for our guest's use. As a result of these time-consuming measures, check-in and check-out times during this phase may change.
Our location, and its very private setting allow for ample space between people (inside and out) and the property line includes ocean access. A rare advantage.
We will continue to update this page as new information comes in.
Be safe and well.
